Photographing Dar at his Tattoo Studio

I did this really cool photoshoot with a talented tattoo artist I met in New York named Dar. He works out of a small tattoo studio but when I got there I was immediately struck by its unique ambiance and aesthetic that perfectly encapsulates his style. What also really caught my attention were these two walls painted in completely different colors, giving me several options for a variety in the shots.

Once the shoot was done and it came time to do the retouching, I wanted to make sure I highlighted Dar’s unique collection of tattoos that decorate his body with some exposure tweaks. I then finished it off with my signature color grading style. The result really showcased the artistry and made those intricate designs really stand out.

What I love most about these creative shoots is how they fuel my own artistic process. Working with fellow artists pushes me to think outside the box and try out new ideas. It's these kinds of experiences that help me level up when I'm photographing business clients. I get to bring that fresh, creative perspective and deliver some seriously cool results.
